The owner wanted to build a thermally efficient home that was comfortable for a family of mixed ages, provided for privacy needs and physical abilities. It needed to be simple, pleasant, attractive, provide for flexibility in use, interface with the outside environment and be easy to maintain. Key passive solar features:

Each dwelling has a thermal chute for high pressure stack effect ventilation of heat through the adjustable ceiling vent.
